Statement of Purpose

The Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees was established by the City Council for the purpose of operating and maintaining a municipally-owned utility for the citizens of Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Guiding Principals

Gas, Water and Sewer Utilities are operated under the same guiding principles which follow:

• To provide the highest quality and most reliable service possible, at the lowest reasonable costs, consistent with sound business practices.
• To maintain adequate and necessary revenues and reserves, in order to provide and maintain up-to-date facilities and equipment.
• To employ capable staff, with strong work ethics and high technical skills, and provide for their ongoing training, safety and equipment needs.
• To strive for continued growth and development of both the utility and the community, utilizing all appropriate technologies, resources, and strategies.
