All city and utility departments/facilities will be closed on Wednesday, February 12 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM to allow employees to attend the funeral services of Mike Hermansen.
The Mayor offers sincere words on the passing of City Councilman Mike Hermansen. On behalf of all city staff and the City Council, we are deeply saddened by this loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
Salute to Mike Hermansen
Our community suffered a great loss on February 5th with the passing of Mike Hermansen. For more than 11 years, Mike tirelessly championed the needs of Emmetsburg while serving on the City Council and several other community boards. His unwavering commitment to the welfare of others was a glowing testament to his strong character and principled Christian values. Mike was always ready to listen to both sides of any story before forming an opinion, and he always put his community first when conducting City Council business. He was a dedicated and loyal leader, and a true gentleman. We’ll miss Mike, his work ethic, and his wonderful sense of humor. Nancy and I offer our prayers, and send our sincerest condolences to Mike’s family.
